The New Year has arrived! The beginning of a new year is an opportune time to set priorities, goals and action items for the months to come. Below are several potential New Year’s Resolutions you could make when it comes to your company’s marketing activities in 2020.
Be Consistent on Social Media – Are you posting consistently on your social media accounts? Don’t let potential customers land on your Facebook Page and get turned off by the fact that you haven’t posted in 2 months. Make a commitment to post at least a couple of times every week to show new faces you are an active business and to show old faces (your followers) that you are there for them.
Be Consistent with Email Marketing – When was the last time you sent an email blast to your subscribers? Don’t squander this opportunity to stay in front of the people who have shown an interest in your business. Resolve to send an email blast at least once per month in 2020.
Restock Your Print Materials – How is your inventory of business cards, brochures, rack cards and menus looking? If you are low, it’s time to reorder. But before you reorder, make sure all information is up to date and that you have consistent branding across all materials.
Prioritize Search – In today’s America, if we want to find something we typically Google it. Is your business showing up for the things your potential customers are searching for? Do a local search for the keywords that you feel match up with how consumers search for what you do, and see where you show up. Two easy ways to help improve your search rankings are to integrate target keywords into your website content and to produce ongoing new content in the form of blog posts that also integrate target keywords. If you are ready to take it up a notch, consider implementing Google Ads to show up in the paid search results.
Be a Content King – Consumers appreciate quality content. Whether it is an educational blog post, a short topical video, impressive imagery or an engaging conversation, content is key. Create a content strategy for 2020 and formulate a plan for executing this strategy. Use this content across your social media accounts, in your email blasts and on your website as applicable.
Think Outside the Box – Is there something new or different that you could be doing? Maybe you have yet to create an Instagram account. Perhaps your business lends itself to Snapchat Filters. If you have something newsworthy, it might be time to write and distribute a press release. Or this could be the year to take the leap and start selling online. Don’t be afraid to try something new, just make sure it fits your target market and that you do it well.
